Job Title:  Lead, Production

POSITION SUMMARY

JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Team Leader will take guidance and direction from the Supervisor / Production Manager and will provide support for all daily manufacturing functions and reinforce expectations for performance and quality goals.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety Focus:

  • Support continuous improvement of departmental housekeeping using 5S methodology
  • Support continuous improvement in safety using a combination of behavior based and process safety techniques with a goal of zero recordable incidents
  • Support investigations on all recordable injuries, near misses and environmental upsets using a root cause methodology and ensure all corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all safety, environmental and health policies and procedures are strictly followed by all department employees, e.g. Hot Work and Management of Change

 

People Skills:

  • As a member of the management team, the team leader MUST be able to communicate with any Flint group employee in a respectable and effective manner. 
  • The team leader is the front line in daily management communication with the departmental associates and is expected to communicate in a positive, “can do” manner.
  • Departmental team leaders will help monitor performance of associates. They will also assist in developing performance improvement plans, conducting evaluations and when necessary administering disciplinary actions.
  • Communicate to all associates in the work unit any process related issues, quality alerts, special requirements, and process/equipment changes.

 

Operations Focus:

  • Support the attainment of the annual budget and its specific actions / plans identified to achieve stretch targets
  • Support the management of raw material and yield variances
  • Support the elimination of obsolete and excess inventory (RM, WIP & FG) and control its future generation through careful production planning and evaluation of aging stocks in conjunction with Supply Chain.
  • Support continuous improvements in labor and manufacturing unit costs, quality (RFT, scrap generation, etc.) and productivity (units per man-hour) through Lean, Six Sigma, ISO-9001 and other CI techniques/methodologies
  • Lead the execution accurate and timely perpetual inventory balances in the site’s ERP system.

 

Customer Focus:

  • Help insure all final products meet specifications and customer requirements.
  • Support successful resolution of all customer complaints using a root cause analyses to prevent future occurrences
  • Help operate the process to meet Supply Chain goals in production, on time and in full (OTIF) shipments, and past due orders.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

High school diploma and 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred:

Two or Four year Degree

Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired

Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience
