Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor
Reporting directly to the Department Manager, the Supervisor will actively oversee and ensure successful manufacturing activities within the department, with the prime focus being on safety. The Supervisor will cooperate with all manufacturing and supporting function managers to ensure successful execution of planned activities while ensuring proper adherence to all safety and company policies.
Experience: The successful candidate will have relevant experience in the process area the job is listed for. He/she must be encouraging and have a coach’s mentality to motivate and educate employees to be safe and successful in their respective position. Other requirements include:
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, coordinate and delegate multiple tasks while remaining composure in a fast paced manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and experience applying lean methodologies and conventional manufacturing techniques
- Successfully demonstrates excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and externally
Safety Focus:
- Support continuous improvement of departmental housekeeping using 5S methodology
- Support continuous improvement in safety using a combination of behavior based and process safety techniques with a goal of zero recordable incidents
- Support investigations on all recordable injuries, near misses and environmental upsets using a root cause methodology and ensure all corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure all safety, environmental and health policies and procedures are strictly followed by all department employees
People Skills:
- As a member of the management team, the Supervisor MUST be able to communicate with any Flint group employee in a respectable and effective manner.
- The Supervisor is the front line in daily management communication with the departmental employees and is expected to communicate in a positive, “can do” manner.
- Help monitor performance of employees. They will also assist in developing performance improvement plans, conducting evaluations and when necessary administering disciplinary actions.
- Communicate to all employees in the work unit any process related issues, quality alerts, special requirements, and process/equipment changes.
- Interact with Maintenance, Engineering, and outside contractors when needed
Operations Focus:
- Support the attainment of the annual budget and its specific actions / plans identified to achieve targets
- Support continuous improvements in labor and manufacturing unit costs, quality (RFT, scrap generation, etc.) and productivity
- Support accurate SAP transactions to help manage inventory accuracy.
Customer Focus:
- Help insure all final products meet specifications and customer requirements.
- Support resolution of customer complaints
- Help operate the process to maintain on time and in full shipments and past due orders
Qualifications:
- Manufacturing work experience (Specific departmental experience preferred)
- Must work safe and coach others to do the same
- Ability to train, coach, and direct others
- Good time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to relate with all members of the team
- Ability to meet deadlines when given projects / tasks
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma and 2 - 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Ability to work with others collaboratively
- Strong organizational skills
Preferred:
- Two or Four year Degree
- Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired
- Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
