Job Title: Logistics & Scheduling Manager
Job Summary
The Logistics and Scheduling Manager oversees production scheduling, materials flow, and distribution logistics within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that raw materials, components, and finished goods move efficiently through the plant and supply chain, supporting on-time production and delivery while minimizing downtime and costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and capacity
- Coordinate closely with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure material availability
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including receiving, storage, and shipping operations
- Align labor, equipment, and materials to meet production targets and deadlines
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and adjust schedules to address bottlenecks or disruptions
- Optimize plant throughput, reduce lead times, and improve on-time delivery performance
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to incorporate downtime and equipment constraints into schedules
- Manage relationships with carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers
- Analyze data and KPIs (production efficiency, inventory turns, schedule adherence, delivery performance)
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma principles
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Lead, train, and supervise scheduling and logistics staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing logistics, production planning, or scheduling
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and production planning tools
- Experience working in a plant environment with cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
- Knowledge of capacity planning and demand forecasting
- Familiarity with inventory control systems and warehouse operations
- Advanced Excel or data analysis skills
Work Environment
- Primarily based in a manufacturing plant setting with regular floor presence
- Requires coordination across multiple departments and shifts
- May require extended hours or weekend work during peak production periods
