Job Title: Technician, PDL
As the Technician, PDL you will primarily focus on all product related quality aspects in the manufacturing process and is the key PDL contact for the Production, EHS and Supply chain department. You will work with production on First Time Pass Rate (FTPR) for ink and varnish (optimize recipes to minimize QC additions & batch time). As well as Maintain quality and color principals using various lab equipment, software and instruments.
Job Responsibilities
- Assure the Flint Group Safety Culture and Code of Conduct is integrated throughout his/her work environment, both internally and externally.
- Back up to the PDL Technology Manager for all raw material related matters, incl GRMC.
- Responsible for BOM creation and maintenance in SAP.
- Manage recipe alterations due to supply chain disruptions (i.e. use of alternative RM's or customer issues / amendments).
- Coordinate requested formulation or raw material changes via the MOC procedure, liaison for Production - HSE - Supply Chain.
- Work with other technicians to establish QC methods for the incoming goods control (define properties, specs, test methods, CoA) and investigate / report trend lines.
- First contact person for manufacturing in case of production disruptions due to off spec produced batches. Available after office hours if needed.
- Works with production on First Time Pass Rate (FTPR) for ink and varnish (optimize recipes to minimize QC additions & batch time).
- Defines, controls and work with production on rework of old and off spec material (raw, intermediate and finished goods).
- Participates in continuous improvement projects (multi-disciplinary teams) to make the site more (cost) efficient.
- Maintain quality and color principals using various lab equipment, software and instruments.
- Train / educate operators in QC tests / additions and oversee / ensure calibration of test equipment. First contact person for production functionality.
- Lead special projects for product quality related manufacturing issues as required – undertake problem-solving & root cause analysis, determine and initiate required actions, and coordinate all parties to a successful conclusion
- Develop and implement 5S Best in Class improved processes to reduce costs and increase output.
Job Qualifications
- Diploma in Chemistry or Process Technology is an advantage.
- Minimal 5 year experience in working in a manufacturing industry.
- Pro-active and analytical approach to problem solving with a strong focus towards process efficiency and improvement.
