Job Title:  Field Service Engineer

The Field Service Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring that all service to customer or company-owned equipment is completed efficiently, on time, and correctly according to specifications. 

 

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Communicates with customer on all call activities up to and including scheduled arrival time, scheduled calls and any deviation which may have occurred
  • Install, Troubleshoot, diagnoses failures, and execute repairs at customer sites
  • Provides status updates online during the day including updating service call activity by the end of the day and keeping management aware of issues that require special attention
  • Keeps an inventory of parts onsite and ships back necessary parts at the end of each service incident
  • Completes repairs within performance standards guidelines as set by the company:  repair time, quality of repairs, amount of rework, quantity of repairs, labor
    efficiency and other measures.
  • Participation in special projects at the direction of management
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position and we rely on all our employees to be at work during their schedule shift
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred with a concentration in electrical and/or mechanical systems/engineering
  • Prior experience in break/fix, electrical/mechanical repair is required
  • Ability to travel frequently both by car and plane
  • Valid DL is required
  • Strong analytical skills, conceptual thinking and the ability to troubleshoot issues is required
  • Excellent judgment and discretion
  • Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, professional, outgoing, and customer service oriented; must have ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • Detail-oriented and works effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines
  • Knowledge of Internet software; E-mail, Microsoft Excel and Word is required; the ability to troubleshoot software issues is a plus
  • Knowledge of printing industry is a plus
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to work various hours including weekends and be on call as client’s work schedules require
  • Willingness to travel 80+% of the time with little notice is required, in this position you should not expect to be home Monday-Friday and should have the flexibility to work on call including weekends
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
