Job Title:  Lab Technician  

Reports To:  Lab Supervisor  

Location: Portland, OR

Job Description: 

This position is responsible for providing laboratory service to both internal and external customers.  Daily activities include quality control of inks, lab projects when assigned, batch ticket review, and working closely with plant operations to ensure obsolete and work off inventories are reduced. 

Education and Competencies: 

Undergraduate degree desired. The following competencies are required: 

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency  

• Proven ability to work in a team environment 

• Demonstrate successful project management capability 

• Strong written and oral communication skills 

• Computer literacy  

• Ink formulation, quality control of ink products, and proper blending instructions   

Key Job Responsibilities: 

• Assume responsibility for the quality control of all ink products associated to daily production demands. Quality control product to meet customer product specifications / target definitions.  Complete assigned Technical Service Requests and Technical Work Requests to meet or exceed time frames for completion. 

• Manage and maintain lab samples. 

• Work with Sales and Technical resources to understand customer and product requirements. 

• Color matching. 

• Maintain and calibrate any associated equipment pertaining to the quality control of ink products. 

• Work with team to implement improved processes to reduce costs and increase output. 

• Work with Materials Manager and Lab Supervisor to reduce/eliminate slow moving and obsolete material. 

• Support the Flint Group Safety Culture.
