Position Summary:

The Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing inventory planning and material ordering across two production sites. This role is critical in maintaining appropriate inventory levels, managing safety stock and reorder points, and reducing slow-moving and obsolete inventory. The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as it involves close collaboration with site managers, supply chain teams, procurement, commercial teams, vendors, and technical departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain appropriate inventory levels across both sites, ensuring optimal days on hand.
  • Monitor and reduce slow-moving and obsolete materials through data-driven analysis and collaboration.
  • Maintain and update safety stock levels, reorder points, and SAP/material master data.
  • Order and replenish raw materials, working closely with procurement and vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and favorable lead times.
  • Coordinate with R&D and Technical teams on raw material substitutions and communicate lead time impacts.
  • Analyze inventory performance metrics, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Work with commercial and sales teams to understand forecasts and align inventory strategies, including consignment stock where applicable.
  • Collaborate with both site managers and broader supply chain teams to support production planning and material readiness.
  • Leverage SAP and other planning systems to ensure inventory accuracy and system integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, or materials management.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively across departments and with external vendors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory planning tools.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
